VE Day Celebrations – 8th May at Pantod

The VE Day 80th Anniversary on 8 May 2025 was a moving tribute to the end of World War II in Europe. Communities across the UK, including Pantod, came together to honor the sacrifices made during the war and celebrate the peace that followed.

From commemorative services to festivities filled with music and reflection, the day was a reminder of the resilience and unity that defined the era. A huge thank you to Tomos Evans of The Forest Review for providing coverage of the event, ensuring that the significance of VE Day continues to be remembered and appreciated.

D-Day beacon lighting refers to a ceremonial event, most recently for the 80th anniversary on June 6, 2024, where beacons were lit across the UK, Channel Islands, and overseas territories to commemorate the 1944 Normandy landings. The lighting of beacons symbolizes a tribute to the bravery and sacrifice of those who fought for peace and freedom, with ceremonies often taking place in public spaces like war memorials or town centers. The principal event took place at His Majesty's Naval Base (HMNB) Portsmouth, and a main international beacon was lit at the British Normandy Memorial.
